Things to Consider About Orkin
Orkin has been in business for more than 100 years and has national reach. There are only three states it doesn’t operate in – Alaska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Their costs are comparable with its competitors and it offers free re-treatments in between visits, if needed.
Orkin’s basic pest control plan treats 20 different pests and the company offers a 30-day, money back guarantee if you aren’t satisfied with the service. The company gives free quotes over the phone, but prices vary based on location and need. You can get customer support 24/7 and Orkin is the only company to offer same day service if you call before noon.
Orkin takes pride in the training of its technicians. They are required to undergo 160 hours of hands-on instruction in the first year of employment.
How Much Does Orkin Cost
Orkin has multiple plans you can choose from to fit your pest control needs. All plans start with an initial visit to your home by a technician who will inspect both the inside and outside of your property. The first time service will cost $246 and covers 20 pests.
After the initial visit, a technician will come back to your house 30 days later to re-treat the outside of your home and then will show up every 60 days after that. Your monthly service charge will run around $60. If you have a problem in between scheduled visits, you can call Orkin and they will send someone out to treat the problem at no additional cost.
Unlike Truly Nolen, Orkin doesn’t charge extra for treating mice or rats. They are included with general pest control. If you want to add mosquito control to your plan, your initial service visit will cost $326 and then around $110 a month afterwards.
Orkin won’t estimate the price for termites or bed bugs. A pest control specialist will have to come to your house and inspect it to determine the size of the problem and what it will take to fix it.
If you aren’t happy with the service for any reason, Orkin will refund the amount of your last payment.
Are Customers Satisfied with Orkin
Orkin promises a 30-day, money back guarantee if you aren’t happy for any reason. They also have a customer care team that’s available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are the only pest control company to offer same day service if you call before noon.
By and large, customers are happy with Orkin’s service, although you will find complaints online with the Better Business Bureau or TrustPilot. Most of the complaints center around people who have had trouble getting rid of their pests, the behavior of specific technicians, and billing problems. But you will find Orkin tries to respond to complaints online and fix the problem.
Orkin does require its customers to sign a one-year contract, so if you cancel the service before your year is up, they will charge you for the remainder of the contract.
Truly Nolen vs Orkin
Things to Consider About Truly Nolen
Truly Nolen has been in business for nearly 90 years and is available in 16 states, Puerto Rico and some provinces in Canada. Its costs are comparable with most other pest control companies, and it offers free re-treatments in between visits, if needed.
Truly Nolen offers one pest control plan – their 4 Seasons Pest Control Plan – which covers 20 different types of pests. Many companies offer rodent control as part of the general pest control plan, but Truly Nolen does not.
The company offers free estimates online and has Saturday and evening availability, which is a perk many pest control companies don’t offer. Truly Nolen also operates a Pest Research Center in Tucson where a team of entomologists spend their time studying and learning about pests and ways to improve treatment methods.
How Much Does Truly Nolen Cost
You can choose between a one-time service or ongoing service with Truly Nolen. If you choose for a technician to treat your home once, you will pay around $350. If you enter into a service agreement with the company, the initial visit will cost around $150 and you will be billed $55 a month after that.
The 4 Seasons Pest Control Plan promises four treatments a year and unlimited service calls, should you need something in between regularly scheduled visits.
Termites, bed bugs and rodent services are priced separately from general pest control. A technician will have to visit your home for an inspection to determine the problem and the size of it before they can give you an estimate for cost.

Are Customers Satisfied with Truly Nolen
If you call or email asking for an inspection, Truly Nolen promises to contact you within one business day – so they’re prompt in their responses. And depending on the service you choose, the company offers a 30- or 90-day, money back guarantee. If you aren’t happy with the services, or are still experiencing problems, a technician will return to your home within 24 hours of treatment to re-treat your home. And if that doesn’t work and you still aren’t satisfied, Truly Nolen will give you a 100% refund of your most recent charges.
Generally speaking, Truly Nolen receives good reviews online for its services. You will find plenty of complaints though registered with the Better Business Bureau or on trusted consumer websites like TrustPilot. Most complaints pertain to services paid for and never received, the performance of specific technicians, or problems with pests that won’t go away. Truly Nolen does a fairly good job of responding to complaints online and attempting to fix the problems.
The Bottom Line
There are so many choices, it can be difficult to determine which pest control company is best for you. But if you’re looking for a company that has set a national standard in the industry, offers comparable pricing to its competitors and treats a wide range of pests – we believe Orkin is the better choice when compared to Truly Nolen.
