We love Greg, the exterminator who’s been to our house a couple of times. He’s the best one we’ve had. He’s always friendly, does a great job, and explains everything well. We also love that they use environmentally safe practices to protect your pets. But the overall scheduling is terrible. We have used their 365 service for the past year and I’m not sure we’ve had anyone show up on time within the scheduled four-hour window more than once. Sometimes people haven’t shown up at all, nor did they call to explain what happened. I’m not sure if they’re just over scheduling or short-handed or what, but it needs improvement.

So initially I called and made my appointment. The answering service gave me a day with the hours of 1pm to 5pm. Day of the appointment I called at 4:50pm and was told I was still scheduled. Well the technician no called and was a no show. The next day I called to say what the….. is going on. This answering service lady said she saw no appointment scheduled. She stated she would look into it. I go to work and the service calls back, even after saying to call after 3pm. Well they left no voicemail. I callback and now was informed that a appointment was scheduled without my consent. So I change this appointment time to one that suits me. Once my technician came he took proper Covid safety precautions. Greg, my technician, was super friendly, explained step by step of what he was doing and accomplished his task in a reasonable time frame. It is only because of Greg’s service I’m giving a 3 star vs a 1 star.

I had a mouse problem. They told me up front that they wouldn't be able to get rid of them entirely until I got some work done outside the house where they were coming in... And they showed me the problem areas. BUT... after about a month or so... And at least 7 mice caught in their traps... I no longer have a mice problem! I still have to make repairs to the outside of my home to make sure they don't come back with Winter... But for now, I'm Mouse Free!

Excellent on Flea removal in houses. A++

Kelly A. via google

With the weather getting colder rodents are seeking warmth. We found a small mouse in the garage. The service man checked the boxes and put down fresh bait. Always friendly and explains what he’s doing. We’re pleased with the service.

Sara is highly professional and was most efficient in helping to remedy our problem. She is also a delightful person. Kudos to her!

Gerald G. via google

Today out of last 3-4 visits was the best service. Although all the visits have definitely helped eliminate the issues, it seems Victoria really hit extra areas that were disregarded before. Outstanding tech for sure. Even though couple things were missed I feel was minor they all took care of the issues. Highly recommended.

Ryan B. via google

The Orkin tech is always prompt and courteous. They are thorough and ask questions about my service and if there are any issues or bug sightings. They were understanding and non judgmental when I haven’t picked up and explained on how we got our infestation which is why I contacted them. As long as the house next door is a rental, I’ll keep the service.

Ross R. via google

Flora was so polite. He called to let me know when he was on his way and he arrived on time! He made sure to ask and check for any places we’ve noticed mice & fleas. My four year old was even telling him the issues and he was so kind and attentive to her as well. We have not seen fleas or mice since! The next day Orkin called to see how our first appointment went and scheduled a follow up to really make sure this issue is GONE. We will utilize Orkin from here on out. Professional, polite and thorough. Thank you Orkin!!

Shayleigh M. via google

You folks have put my heart at ease, tremendously! Attention to detail, explaining the treatment and positive expectations. My relief is palpable and my gratitude is sincere. So looking forward to continue being a part of the Orkin family---again! God bless....

I've used them twice. They do a good job, but they are a little expensive. I gave them 3 stars only because they are expensive.

Understanding Pest Control Pricing and Services in South Bend, Indiana

Homeowners in South Bend, Indiana seeking professional pest control services can expect to encounter a range of prices and service types. Typically, pest control companies offer various plans that cover common household pests, with costs varying based on home size, infestation level, and treatment frequency. Generally, initial fees for starting a pest control plan might range from $175 to $399, with monthly or per-treatment charges thereafter. Recurring services are standard, designed to maintain a pest-free environment through regular inspections and interventions. High infestation levels or larger homes may increase costs, and add-on services for pests like mosquitoes can also affect pricing. Understanding the full scope of services and what they entail can help homeowners make informed decisions for protecting their properties.

Pest Control Service Types and Costs

When it comes to keeping your South Bend home free from unwanted guests, general pest control services typically include an initial visit to assess and treat any current issues, followed by regular treatments to prevent future infestations. For a standard-sized home, an initial treatment could cost anywhere between $175 and $399, depending on the specific pests and the severity of the situation. After the initial service, homeowners can expect monthly or bi-monthly visits, with costs ranging from $40 to $100 per month. These figures, however, are averages and the actual price may vary based on individual circumstances and the provider chosen.

Covered Pests and Exclusions

Protection Against Common Intruders

Most general pest control plans include protection against a wide array of pests such as ants, cockroaches, spiders, mice, and more. However, it's important to note that certain pests like termites, bed bugs, and wildlife may not be covered under standard plans and might require specialized treatment. This could involve additional costs, so homeowners should inquire about the specifics of their plan to ensure they have the coverage they need.

Service Contracts

Commitment to Pest-Free Living

Signing up for a pest control plan often includes agreeing to a service contract. This typically entails a commitment to a year of service, providing ongoing protection against pests. While this might seem like a long-term commitment, many companies offer the flexibility to cancel at any time, often with a money-back guarantee if you're dissatisfied with the service provided.

Satisfaction Guarantees

Your Assurance of Quality

With most pest control services, companies stand behind their work with a satisfaction guarantee. This means if pests return between scheduled treatments, the company will return to address the problem at no additional charge. This guarantee provides peace of mind and ensures that your home remains a safe and comfortable environment for your family.

Treatment Expectations

What Happens During a Visit

During a pest control treatment, technicians typically inspect both the interior and exterior of your home, identify problem areas, and apply treatments to targeted locations. They may also recommend preventive measures, such as sealing cracks or removing standing water, to deter pests from entering your home in the future.

Bundling Services and Add-Ons

Enhance Your Pest Protection

Many pest control companies offer the option to bundle services for additional savings. Homeowners might choose to add termite protection or mosquito treatment to their general pest control plan for a more comprehensive approach to pest management. These add-on services can be a cost-effective way to address multiple pest issues simultaneously.

Specialty Pest Solutions

Dealing with the Unusual Suspects

For pests that require more specialized attention, such as termites, bed bugs, rodents, and wildlife, many pest control companies in South Bend offer targeted treatments. These services are typically separate from general pest control plans and are tailored to address the unique challenges these pests present.

Choosing Between One-Time and Recurring Services

Finding the Right Fit for Your Home

One-time treatments can be effective for addressing a specific pest problem, but they may not prevent future infestations. Recurring services, on the other hand, provide ongoing protection and are designed to maintain a pest-free environment over the long term. When selecting a pest control service, consider the level of protection you desire and the long-term benefits of regular maintenance.
