Today we had the first application of insecticide for their carpenter bees and wasps. The service provider was very helpful in answering my many questions about carpenter bees. He was also honest about the fact that they could be coming back at any time. Very grateful to have the 30 day guarantee. I gave it four stars because we still have to wait and see the results of the first treatment.

This mosquito service has turned out to be a bigger deal than I ever thought possible. I’m beyond pleased with the results. I’ve not had a mosquito pestering me for over a year now. I don’t have to buy spray, citronella candles, or bug lights. I can sit in my yard and be pest free all year. Kids and pets enjoy being bite free also. Well worth the very reasonable price.

So far my experience with them has been great! The only complaint is communication and not giving important information and instructions are terrible.. I’m having fleas treated in my house from a previous home owner. Orkin did not tell me I needed to remove all bedding, clothes, and towels from the house to spray the chemicals in my house. Great service when they did show up on time and do the treatment on my lawn- but communication was very poor.

We used to have mice in the garage before using the rodent repellent. No activity since signing up for this service. Service team is great! Cory is always on time!

Marty K. via google

Cassi Wiles was my Orkin inspector today! She did the most thorough job I've Ever had done by the company! I was so impressed! They need more people like her at the company! Wow! She deserves a raise! I've been with the company since 2022, & she is the best out of All the ones they've sent!

Chris Gama came to our house to do an inspection, after we found bed bugs in our bedroom and bathroom. Chris, was the nicest and most courteous professional that I have ever met. He was very thorough, and was able to explain everything to us in detail about what they would do, to eliminate the bed bugs in our home. Chris was also able to answer every question we had. We are very grateful that Chris was able to come to our home and help us. Thank you so much Chris, and Terminix.

I hired them to help exterminate some bed bugs and do a free inspection. During the inspection they were very professional and kind. I would have considered using their service if they weren’t so expensive and would have been able to afford them.

Pika G. via google

Understanding Pest Control Pricing

The cost of pest control services in Washington, Iowa, can vary widely, with several contributing factors influencing the final price. Homeowners can generally expect to spend anywhere from $40 to $100 monthly for recurring pest management plans. These plans typically include regular inspections and treatments to maintain a pest-free environment. An initial service fee, which may range from $175 to $350, is often required to assess and address current pest issues. Promotions are also available from time to time, offering substantial savings on these services. For those opting for bundled services, such as combining pest and termite control, additional discounts may be applied, offering a comprehensive solution and better value.

Pest Coverage: What's Included and Excluded

Coverage Overview

Pest control plans commonly cover a range of critters that can invade your home, including ants, spiders, mice, and more. However, it's important to note that not all pests are included under standard plans. Certain pests like termites, bed bugs, and some wildlife may require specialized treatment plans. Before signing up, verify with the provider which pests are covered to avoid any surprises down the line.

Exclusions to Consider

Typically, a basic pest control plan will not cover pests such as honey bees, flies, lice, mosquitoes, ticks in the yard, and large wildlife. Some of these creatures, due to their beneficial nature or complexity of removal, necessitate a separate, focused approach for control and removal.

The Fine Print: Contracts and Guarantees

Service Contracts

Most pest control services require a contract or service agreement. This could range from a single year to multi-year commitments. It's vital to understand the terms, such as whether there is a penalty for early termination or if the contract auto-renews.

Satisfaction Guarantees

Many companies offer a satisfaction guarantee, which typically includes free re-treatments between scheduled visits if pests reappear. This provides peace of mind that your home will remain pest-free, or the service provider will return to address the issue at no additional cost to you.

Service Breakdown: What to Expect During Treatment

Initial and Recurring Services

An initial pest control service often involves an in-depth inspection and first treatment, which is more comprehensive than the routine maintenance visits. Following the initial service, scheduled treatments will continue at intervals specified in your service plan to ensure ongoing protection.

Treatment Process

During these visits, technicians will typically treat both the interior and exterior of your home, focusing on entry points, nests, and breeding grounds. They'll also monitor for activity and make any necessary adjustments to the treatment strategy.

Enhancing Protection: Bundling and Add-On Services

Bundled Services

By bundling services such as pest and termite control, you can often save money while ensuring a broader range of protection for your home.

Add-Ons for Comprehensive Care

In addition to standard plans, many providers offer add-on services for pests like mosquitoes or ticks. These add-ons can extend the protection of your home to include outdoor living spaces and are generally available for an additional fee.

Specialty Pests: Beyond the Basics

Specialized Treatments

For pests that require more specialized attention, such as termites and bed bugs, companies offer targeted treatment plans. These may involve different methods and products specifically designed to tackle these challenging infestations.

Choosing Service Frequency: One-Time vs Recurring

Single Occurrence vs Ongoing Prevention

While some providers may offer a one-time treatment option, most recommend ongoing service plans for continuous protection. Recurring services help to prevent infestations before they start and can be more cost-effective in the long run compared to addressing repeated single incidents.

Commitment and Assurance: Aptive's Service Approach

Required Agreements

Aptive, for instance, mandates a one or two-year service contract, with a cancellation fee applied if the service is terminated after the initial three-day grace period.

Re-Service Promise

Their commitment to customer satisfaction includes free, as-needed re-services to maintain a pest-free home, ensuring that any emerging issues are swiftly managed.
