Do I already have firewall program?
To see if you already have firewall software:
1. Click Start, and then click Programs.
2. Look for the word "firewall." You might also see the name of a popular firewall manufacturer or package, including McAfee, Panda Software, Symantec, and others.
Why is a firewall important?
Firewall programs help protect your computer from hackers who may seek to delete information from your computer, crash it, or even steal personal information, such as passwords or credit card numbers. Microsoft does not manufacture stand-alone firewall programs or hardware that includes a firewall program. We recommend you purchase firewall protection from one of the featured vendors below.
