How to Update and Protect Your Computer
If you’re over 50, one thing you’ve learned through experience is that prevention costs less in time, money and heartache than repair. You lock your doors when you leave home to keep your valuables safe, and you tune up your car’s engine to keep it running smoothly and prevent damage. You need to do the same for your computer.
That means making sure the firewall is installed and turned on, and the operating system (i.e. Microsoft Windows) is kept up to date. Always have the latest anti-virus and anti-spyware programs installed, and be careful what you download from the Internet.
Keeping your computer in good working order and safe from attack is your responsibility, but with a little guidance and the right tools it’s easy.
